CCRAS Launches "PRAGATI-2024" to Propel Ayurvedic Research and Innovation
The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Ayush, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, "PRAGATI-2024" (Pharma Research in AyurGyan And Techno Innovation). This initiative is designed to foster collaborative research in the field of Ayurveda, offering significant opportunities for partnership between CCRAS and the Ayurveda drug industry.
At the launch event, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, underscored the pivotal role of the industry in advancing Ayurveda. He highlighted the sector's vast potential for expansion and innovation, noting the influx of new practitioners and startups as a key driver of growth.
During his address, Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, emphasized the rising popularity of Ayush products, particularly Ayurveda, both domestically and internationally. He stated, "CCRAS aims to engage all stakeholders by offering scholarships to students, helping them appreciate the importance of research. We are reaching out to teachers and students through various research and scholarship programs."
Dr. Koustubha Upadhaya, Advisor (Ayurveda) at the Ministry of Ayush, delivered an insightful address, stressing the need for synergy between research and industry to benefit society. He highlighted the critical role of rigorous research in ensuring the quality of Ayush products, advocating for the development of research-based, high-quality, safe, and effective Ayurvedic products. The event also saw the launch of the latest CCRAS newsletter and the CCRAS calendar of activities for 2024-25.
Deputy Director General of CCRAS, Dr. N. Srikanth, emphasized the unique collaborative opportunities presented by PRAGATI-2024. He pointed out the immense potential of the Ayurveda and herbal industry and noted India's significant share in this sector.
The event was well-attended by CEOs, Managing Directors, Directors, and Heads of research units from 37 pharmaceutical companies. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Mrs. Kavita Garg, along with other senior officials, also graced the occasion.
"PRAGATI-2024" marks a significant step forward in the collaborative efforts to advance Ayurvedic research and innovation, reinforcing India's leadership in the global Ayush and herbal sector.
